When it became apparent that my mother Cristina dementia and other health issues, would soon require more professional care than I could personally provide at home.
I began by visiting the few local care facilities in my area that would even handle an Alzheimer's or dementia patent. From these visits I formed list of what I did not want. First these places were facilities, there was no sense of home and none in my area could pass muster for me in the area of patent interaction as well. One thing is that there physical needs are being taken care of its also important that the emotional state is a concern.

Another diamond in our community…..For those of us who do and do NOT have family in our area,
I would like you to know about Scott and Casa Descanso de Astorga in our community. Going
through chemo and being very ill, my daughter talked to Scott about caring for me in her absence.
My last terrible time, he was called.
Scott and his crew took over me and cared for me until I could be taken to Zion (which he
arranged and my hospital of choice). I was checked on regularly and treated very well. The bed
was fresh and the room was clean and warm. Scott admitted me to Zion and stayed with me until

Allow me to express my gratitude for time spent in your "home." It was a healing experience, to
say the least.
At the time of my release from the Skilled Nursing Home in California, I was unable to adequately
care for myself with my new complications from paralysis resulting from a stroke, and walking
without support was dangerous and difficult making assisted living at that point in time a
necessity.
But for the companionship of my faithful dog, I live alone, so I made the decision to assign my care
and rehabilitation to you and your staff at Casa Descanso de Astorga and that was a decision I have grown to appreciate more each day as I enjoy my gift of life reborn. Your staff is
exemplary......professional....caring and attentive. They helped me relearn to walk...even talk, and
for sure, appreciate life as I had been left with which was good, but different, after the damage.
They are the highlight of your establishment, your home.
The food was excellent as well.
You, Mr. Astorga, are a fine, well taught caregiver. Your knowledge and guidance in my recovery
were essential to my progress and continue to be as such. The beat goes on, as they say, and I'm
